Personal Statement
I am a skilled and compassionate therapist known for my calming presence, reflective listening abilities, and attention to clinical detail. In addition to my knowledge of evidence-based practices, I bring empathy, sensitivity, and insight to patient needs.
In 2018, I earned my master’s in social work with a clinical concentration from Michigan State University, after completing a bachelor’s in social work. In my seven years of practicing social work, I have helped instill a sense of hope in patients coping with crises and other challenging life circumstances.
My compassion extends to animals as well as people. In my personal life, I am deeply committed to caring for and helping animals in need. My animal companions include rabbits, chickens, cats, and Pebbles, my family’s English bulldog. I enjoy spending time with my animals, friends, and family at our country home, as well as exercising, hiking, gardening, and trying new plant-based recipes.
Practice Philosophy & Treatment Approach
My approach to therapy is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – an evidence-based modality that helps patients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I also routinely apply skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help patients manage intense emotions, reduce stress, resolve conflict, improve relationships, increase mindfulness and build meaningful lives. My overall goal is to teach patients practical skills to use in their daily lives, so that one day, they can become their own therapist.
In treatment, I take an individualized approach, addressing patients’ specific needs and utilizing their strengths. I value open communication, and welcome involvement from patients and their support systems. With a dependable and thoughtful presence, I strive to create a space where patients feel validated, understood, and where change work can happen.
Whether working with a child learning emotion regulation or an adult managing anxiety or depression, I aim to go above and beyond to provide support that is compassionate, effective, and creates lasting change.
Treatment Focus & Specialty
From children to older adults, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals across the lifespan with their broad mental health needs. My areas of interest include serving the neurodivergent population, that include AD/HD, autism spectrum disorder, as well as sensory and learning disorders. Additionally, I have both enjoyed, and have been effective at treating individuals struggling with borderline personality disorder (BPD).
I am especially passionate about helping children and adolescents who are navigating mood and behavior challenges, including those involved in the juvenile justice system, and struggling with behavioral conduct. My engaging, humorous, yet structured approach has proven effective in connecting with youth who may be initially reluctant to participate in therapy.
